Constanta seemed to me quite deserted when compared to its Bulgarian analogue Varna. Due to this Constanta has some nostalgic quality to it, some forgotten stylish and fancy past that seems to come from different era. The connections with this era though seem to have more archaeological quality. The deserted houses of the eradicated bourgeoisie right in the center of the city and the remains of the former glory of the Casino evoked in me some “belle époque”-like nostalgia and reminded me of films like “Death in Venice”. Constanta for me is sadly beautiful place.
